"A staff
committed to the
spiritual development of children..."
Jon Haizlip
Children's Minister
On June 9th, 2003,
we welcomed Jon and Kim Haizlip
to our Calvary family. Jon came to us from Wildewood Christian Church
in Papillion where he served as Youth Minister and Minister of
Involvement for 11 years. Jon has 19 years of experience
ministering to and shepherding both children and adults. He has been
responsible for organizing and leading small groups, assimilating new
members into Ministry and training other small group leaders. He has
been involved in the planning and implementation of VBS, children's
programming, activities, worship and has served at Camp of the Risen
Son for many years. In addition, Jon is an experienced preacher,
having the opportunity to preach at all of the churches where he
ministered. In his spare time, he loves to spend time with his
family, and he loves to fish. Jon and Kim have a daughter, Mathia,
and a son, Malachi.
JJ
Graves
Children's Ministry Intern
A student
ministry major from Nebraska Christian College, JJ Graves, 20, joins
the team from Omaha, Nebraska. JJ has a passion for ministry and
enjoys using puppets to further God's kingdom. JJ Has been involved in
puppet ministry for about six years and is skilled both at performing
with puppets and building them. He's not sure exactly where God is
leading him, but he's excited to see what God has in store!
Isaiah Jones
Children's
Ministry Intern
While majoring in Biblical Interpretation at Nebraska Christian
College, Isaiah Jones, 19, has a passion for teaching and encouraging
the youngest generations of the Church in their relationship with
Jesus Christ. For the last two years during the fall and spring
semesters, Isaiah has taught the first grade class here at Calvary,
and now he is excited for the chance to spend the summer helping the
ministry. He believes that children should be given a solid foundation
in both their understanding of the Bible, and in their relationship
with its Author, so that when the future brings challenging times,
they will remember the source of true safety and security. Isaiah
takes to heart what Jesus Himself said about children, and believes
that the innocence, willingness to learn, and love of life are things
God desires to see in all of us. "I see in children the hope and joy
God wanted for the world," he says "and my hope is that I can help
prepare them for a world that is not what God wanted; and then, who
knows, maybe some of them will be able to change it."
